The legendary jazz club Ronnie Scott’s is hosting its musical instrument amnesty event for 2025. The initiative is designed to re-purpose unused or unwanted musical instruments by donating them to children and young people.

The Musical Instrument Amnesty event for 2025 takes place on January 25, 2025 at the club’s renowned Frith Street location in Soho, London between 10 am and 3 pm. Members of the public are invited to contribute instruments, which will then be distributed to school-aged children who are participating in transformative music programs in the UK and overseas.

Donors can deliver their instruments to the club on the day of the amnesty. Each instrument will be carefully inspected and assigned a unique tracking number, enabling donors to follow their instrument to its final destination—either in the UK or abroad. Want more information about the amnesty event? Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Club is answering emails about the event in advance. Otherwise, donors are encouraged to turn up on January 25 with their gently loved instruments that need a new home.

“We are delighted to bring this initiative back for another year, revitalizing instruments and providing young people in underserved communities the opportunity to develop their skills and realize their potential,” says Ada Ologbosere, Head of the Ronnie Scott’s Foundation. “We recognize the profound impact this has on children. This event underscores our unwavering commitment to nurturing the next generation of musical talent.”

The legendary jazz club has been organizing musical instrument amnesty events since 2015. It began as an annual event to collect unused musical instruments in the UK and over the years, the event has collected and distributed more than 3000 musical instruments to those in need.

The event was held annually until 2020 when it was interrupted by the COVID-19 pandemic. Since then, the musical instrument distribution has become a bi-annual event and continues to be an important part of the Ronnie Scott’s Charitable Foundation’s efforts to support music education.
