Cécile Rap-Veber has been named Director of International Collections at French collection society SACEM – which represents over 153,000 songwriters, composers and publishers in the region.

She will add the responsibility to her current position as Director of Licensing at Sacem (Société des Auteurs, Compositeurs et Editeurs de Musique) – a role she has held since 2013.

Jean-Noël Tronc, SACEM CEO, said: “Since Cécile joined Sacem’s management team she has been very dynamic in developing the Licensing Department’s activities in the media, phonographic rights’ and digital fields as regards telecom operators, private copying and Internet services. International development is a priority for us.

“New music business models require a global approach in order to optimise remuneration for our members’ repertoires. As Director of Licensing and International Collections, Cécile will be responsible for collecting all rights apart from general rights collected by the regional network.”

Cécile Rap-Veber (pictured, inset) is already Chairman of the Licensing Committee for Armonia (the first European portal for multinational licences for music services on Internet) and sits on the Managament Board of Biem (the international organisation representing mechanical rights’ societies).

After 5 years as an Attorney at the Paris Bar, the exec joined Universal Music France in 2000 as Director of Legal & Business Affairs and subsequently, in 2009, as Director of Universal Music Consulting & Content (UMCC) in charge of the new business development for Universal Music in Europe.

“In a fast moving and more complex environment generated by the fragmentation of rights, the expansion of multi-territorial services and the explosion of new uses of our repertoire throughout the world, both in the music field and in the audiovisual one, the Department of Licensing and International Collections will pursue SACEM’s ambition to reinforce its position on the international stage in order to improve protection for its members, ensuring that it maximizes their revenues and provides them with increasingly efficient services,” she said.Music Business Worldwide
